and Body

A chair that lowers your heart rate and reduces stress? That can help keep your brain relaxed? Help you defy gravity? That can boost your creativity? Really?

Really. The Embody seat and back are a dynamic matrix of pixels that stimulates blood and oxygen flow by reducing seated pressure. All that oxygen helps you think better. The chair back adjusts instinctively to every move you make and keeps support of your lower back constant. Embody keeps you in a neutral, balanced posture as you work, so you stay relaxed and focused.

A Chair That Can Reduce Stress

Embody is so advanced that it actually lowers your heart rate and reduces stress. By stimulating blood and oxygen flow while you sit, Embody helps keep you focused and relaxed at the same time. You'll feel like you're floating, which means you'll feel more alert. Your brain will be more alert, too.

A Chair That Can Boost Your Creativity

Embody can help you innovate, create, and come up with new ideas. Movement promotes blood and oxygen flow, which keeps the brain more focused and functional. Embody is an agile chair that encourages movement, keeping your body and brain limber all day.

  • Healthful Posture

    Healthful Posture

Embody encourages the most healthful posture for computer users—a working recline, which reduces spine compression and even slows fluid loss from discs. The Backfit™ adjustment positions the backrest in line with your spine's natural curve, so you achieve and maintain a neutral, balanced posture. When you move in the chair, your head remains properly aligned to your computer display.

  • Encouraging Natural Movement

    Encouraging Natural Movement

Embody's tilt technology maintains your back in a fixed position relative to the seat, encouraging your body to move naturally into the most positive seated postures while keeping your pelvis stable.

  • Three Zones of Support

    Three Zones of Support

The tilt technology of the Embody chair also provides three zones of support—for your thighs, sacrum/sitting bones, and thorax. The pelvis remains stable with no rearward rotation. Without a rigid frame and with edges that flex, Embody prevents uncomfortable pressure on your legs and arms.

  • Conforms to You—Automatically

    Conforms to You—Automatically

A dynamic matrix of pixels creates seat and back surfaces that automatically conform to your every movement and distribute your weight evenly. And one chair size fits every body. Because Embody automatically adapts to the wide variation in the sizes, shapes, postures, and spinal curves of different people. Seat depth adjusts to different thigh lengths, and the armrest motions fit the broadest ranges.

Answer:
On the right side of your Embody Chair is a round joystick that can be used to adjust your seat height. To raise your seat height, angle the joystick upward and lift your weight off the seat until it raises to your preferred height. To lower your seat, angle the joystick downward while sitting and lower the seat to a comfortable height. At the proper seat height, there should be slightly less than a 90 degree angle between your thighs and calves.

Answer:
Yes there is a dial on the back that allows you to for lack of better term form fit the chair to your back. Both are great chairs but, if you are looking for comfort the Embody is the better of the two. The Aeron is more of a computer task chair that you should only buy with the posture fit option.

Answer:
The Embody Chair does not have a separate PostureFit attachment like the Aeron Chair does, because the support is built into the design of the chair. The Pixelated Support (shown in the attached image) creates seat and back surfaces that automatically conform to your every movement and distribute your weight evenly. By fitting your form and reducing seated pressure, Embody increases blood circulation, which improves the flow of oxygen and decreases heart rate.

Answer:
That is a hard choice. I tested both and I finally decided on the Aeron chair. Also you should always buy the C size option with back support.

The Aeron has the ability to tilt forward to support leaning forward into a computer. However, the Embody is far superior in comfort and elbow room compared to the Aeron. If you do not need to tilt forward to the computer then go with the Embody chair.

Here is what I did if you do not have a dealer in your area, you can buy both and test them for 30 days and then return the one that you like the least.

Answer:
Both the Embody Chair and a size C Aeron Chair would be a good fit for your body type and length of sitting. If you prefer to lean back while you are sitting, you may want to consider the Embody Chair. It's spine is designed to provide healthy support for your back for long hours of sitting in front of a computer. The Backfit™ adjustment positions the backrest in line with your spine's natural curve, so you achieve and maintain a neutral, balanced posture. The chair also allows you to adjust your seat depth to fit your thigh length for ultimate comfort and support.

Answer:
The simple answer to your question is "no" the Embody does not have a headrest option. Our High Performance Seating - Embody, Aeron, Mirra, and Sayl - support the spine at the sacrum (via PostureFit) and thoracic. By doing this, we stabilize the lumbar and cervical (neck). When you are sitting in the chairs correctly, your spine and neck are aligned and a headrest is unneeded.

Embody Chair 4.5 5 11 11
A life changer I don't know any of the technical reasons, but this product has literally changed my life. I formerly was sitting in a generic $59 office chair and, in retrospect, it was doing some serious damage to my body. When I received the Embody chair, I fussed around with the adjustments for about 45 minutes and then started using it. It felt strange for the first day or two, but I have never looked back. It feels as though the back of the chair embraces my back, and not only does this provide real physical support, it also is surprisingly comforting and reassuring. Mysterious, dull aches and numbness have disappeared from my life, and I feel more productive than I have in a long time. Also, proto-RSI types of discomfort and pain in my forearms and wrists have gone away since I started using this chair. If you make your living sitting in an office chair, you owe it to yourself and your long-term health and well-being to get a good ergonomic chair, and I don't think you can do any better than the Embody chair. April 13, 2012
VERY comfy, but design & instructions need work I use this chair in two basic modes: 1) at my desk for computer work, reading, and writing 2) tilted back a bit with my feet propped up on my paper shredder just to read a book (or on iPad). Bottom line - the chair does a fantastic job for these two purposes & except for the tilt limiter which is a bit clunky allows you to adjust the chair in various configurations to maximize your comfort. The up-down control made of translucent plastic looks like a cheap shipping insert & is not intuitive. The manual is poorly written and the online videos help little. I paid extra for the carpet casters, but even on my low-cut pile office carpet, they still seem to hang up. What are the handles in the front for again? Are you hiding the online manual, or isn't there one? May 12, 2013
Great chair Believe it or not, moving to a chair like this takes some adjustment. Right off the start it felt unusual, but it seemed to drive me to sit in a better posture. After all no chair can make slouching at your desk comfortable and healthy. Adjusting it to your body will take a few weeks. No regrets. April 24, 2013
Last desk chair I will ever need to buy! I decided to bite the bullet and put the extra cash into designing the chair with the features I really wanted, and I am so glad I did. Once I love something I love it forever. My chair falls in this category. Will most probably never have to buy another. April 10, 2013
Fabulous support The best feature of the Embody is this: when you get up after sitting in it for hours, you don't feel like you were sitting for hours. I wish I could put one in my truck. July 19, 2012
Beautiful but it's no Aeron The chair is absolutely beautiful. The design is fantastic -- it looks great in my office and would be perfectly at home anywhere modern. After having sat in the Embody for forty hours a week for the last six months, unfortunately I can't recommend it if you plan to use it for work. There are many adjustments, and it's certainly better than your average office chair, but doesn't stand up in the luxury chair market and isn't worth the premium over an Aeron. To start with, it's flat out noisy. The pixellated support leads to a bunch of plastic moving against plastic, so every time I move the seat of the chair creaks. The adjustable seat depth would be nice if it would stay put. At least once a week I have to readjust the length. On the same subject, the front lip of the Aeron tapers towards the floor whereas the lip on the Embody is perfectly flat, which I find uncomfortable against the back of my thighs.I do like how the back moves laterally and, when locked, still bends backwards at the top. I also prefer the arms on the Aeron -- they adjust in ways that I find more useful for working with a computer. I opted for the premium cloth and, while I haven't seen the regular option, I doubt it was worth it. Sure, it's translucent which looks nice, but it doesn't seem any nicer than the fabric on other Herman Miller products. Some of you may consider this nitpicking, but when you buy a chair with this price tag it should be perfect, and, at least for me, the Embody isn't. All in all, the Embody is form over function. June 5, 2012
It's pretty awesome but it's not an executive chair I like this chair and I can sit on it all day. All day being 12 - 14 hours. I'd like to rest my head on something, but there's no head rest. I'm 6'3" ~250 and I seem to sit on the chair rather than in it. The seat isn't long enough from front to back, it slides out but sometimes slides back in and I don't notice it until the circulation has been cut off from my legs. Other than that it's ok April 30, 2012
Product has great potential The chair is very comfortable and cradles your back when you sit in the chair. I loved the extra large arm rests and how the chair will pivot as you lean back and forth. The downside is the chair does not have the ability like some of your other models to permit the chair to lift forward for work with computers and the arms need to have a longer range for adjustment.
