In his desire to create design staples that could be used across myriad applications, textile artist Alexander Girard relied on simple, geometric shapes—including a pointed, seed-like ellipsis he called Pepitas. Emerging from the shared space formed by two overlapping circles, this foundational pattern has been double woven into a fabric pillowcase, combining a tight, graphic clarity with a feather-and-down insert for superior softness and comfort.
  • Original Alexander Girard textile design.
  • Plush feather and down filling.
  • Made in U.S.A.

Alexander Girard

Inspired by folk art, typography, and vivid color, Alexander Girard was a design polymath whose signature aesthetic touched every project he undertook. As the director of Herman Miller’s Textile Division from 1952-1973, his designs helped imbue postwar modernism with playfulness, and wit.
