Great chair
Very comfortable office chair

Great Chai, Until it Ripped and No One Was There To Help
I enjoyed this chair for a couple of years until I noticed it began showing a small rip in the seat. It quickly ripped the entire seat fabric straight down the middle, making it unusable. I make sure to never sit with my keys, pens, etc... to cause something like this to happen. I know the cost o this chair and have been very careful.

This seat was a present from my parents for getting a new job I really desired. They purchased it from a showroom in Pennsylvania, which has since closed.

Apparently, there is a sticker underneath of my seat that gives the green light for Herman Miller to process a warranty claim. This sticker is nowhere to be found, and likely, I pulled it off not knowing what it was. Also, I clean my chair habitually once a week with spray. If this truly is a sticker you are using for proof of purchase, I am certain it's gone because of that reason.

I have reached out several times to Herman Miller, each time which resulted in long delays in response (not due to Coronavirus delays). And everytime I received a response and wrote back, it would be met with that next email not being answered, and I'd have to reach out again. The staff is friendly, I'm not saying they were rude, but this is what happened to me. No one wanted to take on my request, so it was met with silence after the initial response.

While I understand the importance of having a receipt for warranty claims, it was TWO YEARS AGO and I don't keep my receipts. My parents cannot figure out the name of the place of purchase, and it has now closed down, so I am stuck with a $1,000 chair that ripped, with no one from Herman Miller willing to help me out to process the warranty claim. They said I can purchase a new replacement part which is $150. I'm sorry, but there comes a point where a company could see past the fact that a paper receipt and a paper sticker has gone missing, and take care of their customers. I will not purchase another chair from them, and I will be sure to share this story on every social channel/review site I am able to. For $1,000 (being the low-end of the cost of your chairs), you should do better. I have a $300 pair of hiking boots that started to tear along the sides. I called them up, and they didnt ask me for a receipt or anything. They asked for a photo of the boots so they can examine it, and then a week later, I had my boots back completely fixed up. No questions asked. Because it's a high-end shoe brand company that took care of their customer. You should have considered doing the same.

Best office chair I’ve ever used.
Love the chair. Good back support and adjustability. I like the way the seat is made because it is supportive and i never get a sore tailbone or behind! I bought it for telecommuting and its worth the money.

Not Comfortable; the one size fits all doesn't fit me.
When I sat in the Mirra 2 demo chair at the showroom, I thought it was comfortable. It wasn't until after I used it regularly for a few months at home, and started sitting in it for hours at a time, that I realized it was NOT comfortable. The plastic frame of the seat that surrounds the mesh fabric seat material jabs into my legs if I have my legs spread apart at a comfortable angle. The only way to avoid having the front corners of the seat frame jab my legs would be to squeeze my legs together. For me this is an uncomfortable, unnatural position. There are many nice adjustment features on this chair, but no way to adjust the frame of the seat from being super uncomfortable to sit on for any extended period of time.

Don’t recommend
The arm rest broke off just from me bumping it with my elbow. The chair is also extremely uncomfortable and the back is hard plastic with no padding and my tailbone goes numb after 45 minutes.

Outstanding chair.
I have a 19 or so year old Mirra. The back flexes and accommodates your back as you twist and move around, not entirely unlike the Embody (which I also have and love). The only problem I've had in all this time is some oil leaking from the seat piston which was repaired under warranty. 2nd favorite chair ever after the Embody.

Broken plastic back sometimes pinches HARD
This chair was great for over 6 years, but now the back plastic has split right where the adjustable lumbar support is. I thought this light and airy Herman Miller chair would be the last chair I ever needed. :<

Response from Herman Miller
The Mirra Chair comes with a 12-year manufacturing defect warranty for original owners. I'm reaching out to you by email to gather more information about your order to determine the next best steps to get your chair repaired.

Love the chair
I used similar chair for 3.5 years at office, it's durable and comfortable, that's why I bought it . The only thing I regret is that I chose fixed arms instead of adjustable ones. Would totally recommend!

Warranty Issues, plastic material fails under normal use
I have a 2011 Mirra chair, and over the years the back plastic softens and flexes too much when sitting in the chair. The repair was denied due to "normal wear and tear." I would expect to get the full 12 years out of the chair and I would highly recommend not buying chairs with plastic backs.

Arm Rest Material

What material are the arm rests made of, and do they contain latex? Thank you.
A shopper on Jan 9, 2017
Best Answer: The pads on the armrest are made of urethane foam molded in place to a nylon armpad insert on the armpad support. The pads do not contain latex.

Please contact the Herman Miller Store if you have any further questions at 888-798-0202 or hmstore@hermanmiller.com.
Does this chair come in size C?

I am 5 ft 9 160 lbs with 36 inches of legs . Better in size b or C Thanks
A shopper on May 30, 2017
Best Answer: The Mirra 2 does not come in different sizes, but can have an adjustable seat depth added to it. The adjustable seat depth allows the seat pan to accommodate for all heights.

Please contact the Herman Miller Store if you have any further questions at 888-798-0202 or hmstore@hermanmiller.com.
does the chair come assembled ?
A shopper on Jan 19, 2015

TriFlex 2 Polymer Back vs Butterfly Suspension Back

I tried the Butterfly back yesterday and it's been a few months since I've tried the TriFlex back. There's no showroom near my location that has the TriFlex back now for me to compare back-to-back.

Please let me know what you guys think about TriFlex vs Butterfly.
A shopper on Dec 4, 2015
Best Answer: The two back options for the Mirra 2 are the following:

TriFlex 2 Polymer Back: The TriFlex Back is a durable polymer material, with perforations carefully arranged so the back flexes with you allows maximum breathability and easy cleaning.

Butterfly Suspension Back: The Butterfly Suspension material is a layer of fabric offering some cushion from the TriFlex Back while still allowing airflow to keep you cool.

Most prefer the Butterfly Suspension back for the cushion.

Please contact the Herman Miller Store if you have any further questions at 888-798-0202 or hmstore@hermanmiller.com.
What is the arm range above the seat pan? Someone here stated it goes up to 11.5" is that correct?
TOrtiz on Feb 14, 2020
Best Answer: Arm Height range starts at its lowest setting height of 6" and can extend up to 11.5".
What is the recommended sitting time rating for the Mirra 2? 8+ hours? 6-8 hours? 4-6?
Monica H on Aug 31, 2019
Best Answer: The Mirra 2 task chair has been tested for an 8 hour use 3 shifts a day
Is this chair available with the h-alloy base in graphite?

Setu offers the h-alloy base in a graphite color, and I think this graphite base would look great on the Mirra 2. Is the Mirra 2 available with the graphite colored h-alloy base? Thanks!
A shopper on Mar 3, 2016
Best Answer: The bases on our chairs are specific to each product. The base and frame finishes for the Mirra 2 are: Graphite Base and Frame, Fog Base With Studio White Frame, H Alloy Base With Graphite Frame, H Alloy Base With Studio White Frame, Semi-Polished Base With Graphite Frame, and Semi-Polished Base With Studio White Frame.

Please contact the Herman Miller Store if you have any further questions at 888.798.0202 or hmstore@hermanmiller.com.
Why does Slate Grey Back Finish look black, even though the same seat color appears lighter?

For the Mirra2 configurator, when you choose Slate Grey for the Back and Slate Grey for the Seat, the back looks almost black and the seat looks light grey. are they truly matching in reality and the online picture just looks different?
A shopper on Feb 2, 2014
Best Answer: The Mirra 2 seat is an Airweave suspension seat material that allows more airflow to prevent heat buildup. This causes the color to look slightly lighter in our images than the seat back material which is fused to the butterfly back. The black and slate grey are different colors, and we would be happy to provide free material samples.

To help with ordering free material samples, please contact the Herman Miller Store at 888.798.0202 or hmstore@hermanmiller.com.
what is the width of the actual seat?

I need a chair that will accommodate a person needs a very wide cushion.

A shopper on Jun 8, 2017
Best Answer: If the person requires a wide seat pan, I would recommend the Herman Miller AERON Chair over this chair. The AERON Chair actually offers three different seat pans, opposed to the one generic seat pan that the Mira 2 offers. So, if the seat pan is a deal breaker for you, try the AERON version.

I've used both and currently use the AERON!

Hope this helped!
What does Tilt Limiter and Seat Angle do?
A shopper on Oct 28, 2014
Best Answer: Tilt limited sets how far back the seat back leans. If you like your chair always straight upright (or to stop at a specific angle), then you want the tilt limiter. Personally, I like to be able to lean back in my chair as far as possible and I use the tension knob to adjust the difficulty in doing that.

The Seat Angle adjusts how the seat sits, relative to the floor. Default is horizontal, but I believe this option allows you to have it angled slightly forward. Great if you like the sensation of almost falling off the chair - I passed on this option.
Weight limits of user?
Robert M on Nov 30, 2019
Best Answer: Weight Limits—Tested and warranted for use by persons 350 pounds and under.
Will the white butterfly back and Alpine seat get dirty easily? Is staining/discoloration covered by any warranty? I wear dark wash denim often and worry about dye transfer.
Colleen R on May 5, 2019
Best Answer: The lighter colors such as white and Alpine will show dirt easier than the darker colors such as graphite. Dye transfer is more likely on the lighter colored fabrics / materials. Dye transfers or staining / discoloration would not be covered under the warranty. The warranty does not cover issues caused by normal wear and tear.
how do I get rid of squeaks?
A shopper on Jun 16, 2017
Best Answer: Because of our extended warranty, we would suggest contacting whomever you purchased your Mirra 2 Chair from. This chair does come with a 12 year warranty for the original purchaser and our authorized Herman Miller resellers will be happy to help you with your repair.

Can configuration be changed at a later date?

Is it possible to change the configuration after purchase? For example, could I order an armless chair now and then purchase arms another time and install them either myself or at an authorized Herman Miller outlet/dealer (in the LA county)?
A shopper on Feb 17, 2017
Best Answer: Yes, options can be changed/added at a later date. However, you will be spending more in the long run and the parts you add to the chair will only have a 3-year warranty (considered service parts if added) and not the 12-year warranty if the option would have been order from the beginning.

Please contact the Herman Miller Store if you have any further questions at 888-798-0202 or hmstore@hermanmiller.com.

Is it 16 inch the minimum height of the chair?

I am 63 inches(5.28 feet/ 161cm) long and I need the chair can be adjusted to lower level so that my feet won't float in the air and not to break my neck. It is really important for me to make sure the lowest height of the chair. Is it correct that 16 inch (40.64cm) in its lowest height?
A shopper on Oct 17, 2016
