Find Self-Care in Organization
Professional organizers can seem like fairy godmothers, sent to magically tidy up our impossible messes. But Rebekah Love isn’t here to just restore order to your closet. Learn how she goes deeper to rehabilitate destructive, clutter-inducing habits.
The Anxiety of Mess
A huge problem for many of my clients is reacting to the mess instead of responding. When you’re reactive, you allow your emotions—like the sense that something needs to happen because you’re tired and annoyed—to drive your actions. When people get frustrated by their space, they often impulsively buy things, like organizing bins, and hope that’ll organize their space. But it backfires because the purchase wasn’t thought out.
When you’re responding, you’re more intentional and mindful. You stop and consider what actually needs to happen, what’s really bothering you. You’re in the driver’s seat. It’s hard to have the patience to stop and think things through before buying, but by doing so you may discover that you already have everything you need to organize your space!
A More Holistic Approach To Organization
I see home organization as a part of our health. Most people know when they go to Organize for Love that this is more than a surface-level fix. It’s going to look pretty, but it’s also going into something bigger. I dig deep into each client’s habits—how the behaviors were created and what’s driving them. If you've been doing something for years, it's going to take years for you to unlearn, undo, and replace that habit with something new.
For me, organization is about trying to achieve a better life long-term. How do I want to feel in my day-to-day in the future and how can I create an environment to support that future?

Learn To Embrace Your Space
I like to be transparent so let me tell you, I have been struggling with this. I’m five months pregnant and I just want our whole apartment to be done before the child gets here because who knows if I’ll have time to do it after?
At the same time, it feels really good to just enjoy this space as it is and focus on the simple things, like having a roof over my head and a baby on the way. I encourage my clients to do the same and not rush to where they want to be.
Lean into things that are constants in your life—for me it’s candles, flowers, and plants. It could be food for you. You can indulge in great food, cook, and learn to love your kitchen. The more you lean into it, the easier it gets to be patient.
