Base, Frame, Butterfly Back, and Seat Carrier

Normal Cleaning

Wash surface with a soft cloth soaked in mild detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.

Do not use solvents or abrasive kitchen cleaners.

Arm Pads

Normal Cleaning

Wash surface with a soft cloth soaked in mild detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.

Do not use solvents or abrasive kitchen cleaners.

Ink Stains

Apply isopropyl alcohol to a clean, damp absorbent cloth. Start at the outside of the ink stain and work towards the center. Apply pressure but do not rub too vigorously. It is important as the cloth becomes stained, use a clean section of the dampened cloth or the stain will spread. Apply isopropyl alcohol to the cloth as needed.

If ink stain persists, use acetone in place of procedure above. This procedure is not intended for normal cleaning.

AireWeave 2 and Latitude Fabrics

Normal Cleaning

Vacuum fabric as needed using an upholstery attachment.

Vacuuming picks up dust and reduces the need for professional cleaning.Do not brush fabric or use a vacuum attachment with a rotary brush. Brushing may permanently damage the nap or change the character of the fabric.

Spot-clean fabric

Immediately soak up the stain with a soft absorbent cloth.

Do not dry the stain completely or it may set. The longer a stain is allowed to remain on a fabric, the more difficult it is to remove.

Water-based stains such as coffee, soft drinks, fruit juices, or milk

Use a water-based cleaner (specifically made for cleaning fabric) or a solution of mild (alkaline) warm soapy water (not overly soapy) applied with a damp clean cloth or sponge. Work the cleaner into a lather or foam.

Never use hot water; it will set the stain. Avoid scrubbing.

Oil-based stains such as lipstick, grease, or salad dressing.

Use a dry cleaning solution applied with a damp clean cloth or sponge. Test the cleaning solution on a small, concealed area first. If there is no spotting, ringing, or damage to the fabric or its dyes, apply the cleaning solution to the soiled area with light, quick strokes. Begin at the outside of the stain and work toward the center, being careful not to over-saturate the fabric.

K2R is also a product that can be used. See product label for complete instructions. Do not over apply water or any liquid solution to fabric. Excessive wetting of the fabric with any liquid solution may result in permanent damage to the material. Do not rub too vigorously or you may damage the nap of the fabric or break fibers. Several light applications are better than one heavy application. Soak up all remaining solution and then use another clean cloth or sponge dipped in cool water to remove any residue. Let fabric dry thoroughly and then vacuum well before using. If the stain resists cleaning, contact a professional cleaner.

Large Areas

If large areas are soiled, contact a professional cleaning firm.

Product is well designed
I am not a large company, I am a private business owner. I bought the chair for my wife - who is a undergraduate student. Previously she was using a cheap "hobby lobby" stool. This chair is like a Cadillac. If I could recommend any changes it would be to the footrest (make it more like the Aeron stool's. otherwise, this is a perfect stool for long hours on a drafting table.

The quality and comfort you expect
As a retired corporate manager, I've put a lot of hours living in office chairs. However, for my home PC kiosk, I needed a taller stool-style chair with the support and comfort of the real office piece. I tested numerous hybrid stools, but none really satisfied the requirements. The more modern-style pieces, which fit better in our home design, especially fell short of expectations. The Herman Miller online store provided the avenue to customize to exactly my needs, using the modern Mirra 2 core design. The custom build was surprisingly fast and delivered in perfect condition (just the right amount of packaging). Zero assembly required was a bonus, although usually no concern for me.

The stool is fantastic. First, it looks great. The detailing of finishes, the seating support fabric alignment and edging, and even every molded part fit/finish/smooth edges is top quality. As for comfort, this is a dream chair. The adjustable design puts just the right amount of variation in all the right places. For reference, my chair had the optional 1) adjustable arms, 2) FlexFront adjustable seat depth, and 3) lumbar support, listed in my order of preference and value judgment. The standard tilt limiter seems perfectly adequate for my needs. A surprise that I did not consider when ordering is the standard adjustable height foot rest ring. It is very easy to adjust, sturdy, and vitally important for comfort in that part of your body that you don't normally think of as involved in seating support (your feet are usually on the ground in a normal-height chair). The standard TriFlex 2 polymer back is very comfortable -- I feel no pressure points whatsoever.

I have used this stool several hours daily for nearly a month, and can honestly say that my initial wow assessment has not waned. Of course, long term durability is unknown at this point, but the quality of everything suggests it will be good. If I had to pick one design improvement, it would be for H-M to offer a light gray color in the hard surface quiet-roll caster option. It seems that most dust or other small particles on the floor are light colored and picked up on the rollers, which distract just a bit from the black roller appearance. A small nit-pick.

If you are undecided about the cost, my assessment is that this Mirra 2 stool has higher value to the user than any alternative I was able to find. (Again for reference, I am a medium build 6 ft - 160 lb early 60's age male.)

Fantastic customer service!
I received my Mirra stool and discovered one of the caster posts had snapped during shipping. Needless to say, after waiting two months for the stool I was quite bummed! A call into HM and a chat and picture sharing with Christopher moved me along to Stephanie. After conversation, a quick caster replacement and then more conversation it was determined that the chair was fine and the reorder was canceled. I was very impressed with both employees and am thrilled with my chair! I do have to be a little careful getting on as it moves VERY easily on my hardwood floor!

As a fellow Michigander, having grown up in Fremont, I am very happy with my purchase from a 'local' business!

Is the footrest adjustable and does it slip?
A shopper on Jan 25, 2017
Best Answer: Yes, the footrest ring is adjustable over approximately 5 inch range. I am an average build 6 ft. male, and mine is right in the middle of the available adjustment range. The adjustment procedure involves tightening at the desired height by twisting the footrest ring like a steering wheel. It is easy to get a sturdy fit. You may benefit from having a helper hold the caster base while you do the final tightening on the footrest ring. And yes, I often step on the ring to get up into the chair without any slippage of the footrest. Good design and easy to set.
