Eames Soft Pad Chairs
Designed by Charles and Ray Eames, 1969
First designed as outdoor seating for industrialist J. Irwin Miller's Columbus, Indiana, home, in 1958, Eames Aluminum Group chairs-and their later incarnation, the plush, cushioned Eames Soft Pad Group, which transformed the line's spare profile into something a bit more luxurious-have been in constant demand, effortlessly crossing the borders between commercial and residential design. The Eames Soft Pad Group includes adjustable office chairs in management and executive versions, and side chairs with or without arms, all with incredibly comfortable seat-back suspension that are especially welcome in meeting and dining room settings. Most of the chairs are available with an optional tilt swivel and powder-coated frame finishes, as well as in a wide range of upholstery options.
