Care and Maintenance
With regular care and maintenance, your Herman Miller product will provide many years of superior performance and satisfaction. To maintain quality, please follow the cleaning procedures outlined here.
The instructions for the care and maintenance of Herman Miller products are provided to you as a service. No warranty is implied since results may vary.
For normal cleaning, wash plastic surfaces with a soft cloth soaked in mild detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive kitchen cleaners.
I first bought the pencil drawer in 1971 as an accessory for my office drafting stations and they are still in place providing storage for pencils, pens and related office equipment. They are the perfect solution for small desk items whether in the office or at home.
The Drawer is great. Wide, Very accessible. Good pocket design. I love using it.
The only thing keep it from being a 5 Star is, as most commenters have noted, there is no template, or instructions. Even if there were some simple instructions, the installation would take just a few minutes.
Now I know in this day and age this drawer is designed using computer software. So spitting out a print on where to put the screw holes would be so easy. And Herman Miller is no slouch organization, so it is beyond me why a simple piece of paper is not included.
Yes, I would recommend it, and yes, I would buy it again.
Not what you expect from Herman Miller. Cheaply made, pain to install and then doesnt operate smoothly at all. Fit is sloppy, its almost like they made the edges way to small to hang on the slides. Is a cheap plastic mold that needs some improving.
I've been using Herman Products for nearly 50 years and was once again pleased with the results. The product was used as a retro fit on an existing built-in desk. Installation was easy and the product worked perfectly and to top it off it was half the price of big box office supply store comparables.
This would have been the perfect pencil drawer for my needs, except it was too 'deep' to fit into the space I wanted. (Under a bar in the kitchen area). No fault of the product, just a bit too big for this applpication. If there was a smaller version of this drawer, I'd buy it.
With this item being readily available for purchase by the general public (and not limited to trade professionals), I would suggest that you include installation/layout instructions and/or a template for drilling and mounting.
Love the price.
I wonder if the plastic edges could be smoother or rounded making them more user friendly/comfortable.
This works perfectly in my craft room. I have a countertop that sets on top of three short file cabinets. I needed a drawer to hold pens, etc., and found this online. It's comparatively prices and works perfectly.
I got this for under a section of kitchen counter that I use as a desk. Didn't want a full drawer which would be too deep for comfort. This was the perfect solution. Easy to install, light but sturdy. slides in and out smoothly. Only thing missing was installation instructions, but it was pretty obvious.
The quality of the drawer is superb. Just as expected it will most certainly withstand the test of time.
My only complaint is that no instructions are included (at least with the item I received). The only concern I had was which side of the drawer supports, that are screwed to the desk, face inwards and which side faces out. It took only a few minutes to figure out the solution. I may have missed some sort indicator on the plastic, but customers would benefit if Herman Miller would supply a quick & cheap paper template for proper installation.
As long as the purchaser can properly measure and operate a screwdriver or drill it is cake.
I have been wishing for an Eames Lounge Chair/Ottoman and a proper task chair (Aeron or Gesture) for a few years and I am happy to know that the cheapest item produced is of such great quality.
This knowledge only increases my expectation of higher priced items.
