The impact and seating space of a traditional sofa in a sleek, slender, minimalist piece of classic mid-century furniture.
Why "compact" for a sofa that's six feet wide and seats three comfortably?
Originally, because it could be shipped in a small box. But the clean profile of this sofa is perfectly scaled for spaces too small for a traditional sofa. And you lose none of the comfort associated with the word "couch."
With all the comfort you expect from cushy, heavy sofas, the Eames sofa compact sits well in spaces where bulky traditional sofas can't. In your home's vestibule, study, craft or sewing room, or home office. It provides plenty of seating without ruining the scale of the room. 72 ½ inches wide, 30 inches deep, and 35 inches high.
The design, which looks nothing like a traditional upholstered sofa, is crisp and light scaled, without that weighty look that most sofas have. And while it's perfect for smaller rooms and smaller spaces it also lives beautifully in normal-sized rooms where an airy, modern look is desired.
With two 2 ½-inch-thick foam pads along the comfortably high, angled back and with a 2 ½-inch foam seat cushion, the sofa compact provides firm, flexible support from shoulders to knees, while extending only 2 ½ feet from a wall.
The two foam pads that constitute the sofa back feature a reinforcing cord welting detail. The urethane foam seat cushions are supported by fabric-reinforced rubber webbing on a steel and wire-spring armature. The steel frame is black enamel, and the tubular steel legs are chrome plated. The stainless steel glides have rubber bases.
