Eames Aluminum Group Executive Chair

Great design, affordable price

As affordable as it is inventive, SAYL proves our belief that a reasonably priced work chair can be well designed and include leading-edge ergonomics. Designing SAYL started with understanding the needs of people and designing an ergonomic work chair that incorporates everything that Herman Miller chairs are known for. By rethinking every part, we were able to create a better, smarter chair that sets a new reference point in its class for performance, ergonomics, quality, and appearance.

  • 3D Intelligent Technology

    3D Intelligent Technology

SAYL's revolutionary 3D Intelligent suspension back molds the support you need into the back material, eliminating hard edges and the need for a frame. The suspension back is a flexible elastomer that adapts to each person's unique shape and provides exceptional comfort and support for just about all body types.

  • Eco-Dematerialised Design

    Eco-Dematerialised Design

Yves Béhar is big on environmental responsibility in design. The result is a lightweight chair that is 93 percent recyclable. Structural components are hollowed out, reducing weight and volume. The ArcSpan, arm structure, and tilt mechanism are fused into a single strong part that also reduces the chair's weight. The SAYL work chair weighs only 37 pounds.

SAYL chairs ship ready to assemble.

  • The Best for the Most for the Least

"The Best for the Most for the Least"

It was the standard for the furniture designs of Charles and Ray Eames and an inspiration for Yves Béhar when working on SAYL: Make a product that is the best design for the most people at the smallest cost.

Our goal was to make a work chair that is everything a Herman Miller chair should be in terms of ergonomics, elegant styling, superior engineering, and ecological responsibility—and be able to offer it at a very attainable price.

  • Elegant Anywhere

    Elegant Anywhere

Shape matters, especially when introducing a chair into your home. At a desk, around a table, in the living room. The organic shape of the SAYL back makes it elegant anywhere, from every angle.

And SAYL color choices let you express your individuality. Mix colors on the seat, back and arm pads for a bold look. Or match them for a more traditional appearance.

I've had Aeron chairs before and find I don't adjust/use the lumber support as much as I thought I would. I tend to lean forward more than back. So wondering whether it's worth getting the extra lumbar support or not.

Answer:
It's not worth it. The support provided is pretty cheesy and honestly, I don't think a person is really going to feel much of a difference. Mine keeps sliding down as well.

Answer:
The SAYL Chair is designed to provide healthy support for your back. Support is molded directly into the 3D back suspension material, which flexes and moves with your motions.

We offer a lumbar support option for people who prefer additional support for their lower back. The lumbar support is mainly used while in the recline position. It supports the natural curve of your spine when leaning back or rocking.

If you tend to lean forward more than lean back, then the lumbar support may not be as beneficial for you.

Answer:
The SAYL chair design was inspired by the principles of suspension bridges. The frameless back of the SAYL office chair encourages a full range of movement, while keeping your back cool. The Herman Miller store offers an optional add on of adjustable lumbar support to provide added support for your back, and it can be found by clicking on the 'Show More Options' link. I've attached an image for reference.

Here is an example model configured with Adjustable Lumbar Support:

I just attended the CUSP conference and saw Yves Béhar, so I am submitting this question. I, like many, am at the computer for long hours and have recently found out that I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (along with lower lumbar problems) from being seated in chair that doesn't give my arms and hands the proper support. While there are many ergonomic supports like keyboards, pads, etc... on the market to help with this, I can not find any chairs that are constructed to support the arms and wrist as well. Now that I am dealing with this, it's kind of shocking to realize that this is not anywhere (at least no where I can find) this doesn't yet exist. Does the SAYL Chair also give this type of support to the arms and wrist as well as the back? A quick search on the internet will confirm how vast the number of people dealing with CTS is - and would be eternally grateful for a chair that could help with this problem.

Answer:
The SAYL chair is designed with leading edge ergonomic technology to provide a healthy seating solution for people who spend quite a bit of time sitting, often in front of a computer. The suspension back adapts to each person's unique shape and provides support for all body types. You can also choose to order the chair with the Adjustable Lumbar Support for added back support while in the upright and reclined seating positions. SAYL's arms are available as Fully Adjustable, Fixed or Height Adjustable. For a person with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, we would recommend choosing the Fully Adjustable Arms, which will allow you to move the arms horizontally, vertically and forward/backward. It is important to have proper support for your arms while working to help prevent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. You should always make sure your arms, wrists and hands are on a level surface so your wrists are straight when using your keyboard.

SAYL Chair 4.9 5 16 16
This chair is not only unique and beautiful, it is comfortable, too! I bought this chair for my grown son who had a near fatal car crash several years ago . He continues to work hard as a radio DJ and a basketball coach in Tuscaloosa , but he suffers all the time. He is my HERO! He says this chair allows him to do his neck and back exercises, and the back netting allows him to keep his cool! I thank God for you. February 18, 2014
Awesome chair! I couldn't be more delighted with this great looking, really comfortable desk chair for my home office. It's very clear to see that the chair is of high quality design. It was easy as could be to set up and adjust. Comes in multiple color options. Am thrilled with this choice and would highly recommend. March 2, 2014
Great chair and buying experience on all levels This chair is ultra comfortable, beautifully designed and made by skilled US labor, does not get much better than that. The customer service I received when discussing my order was exceptional. Thanks for the great product and customer commitment. February 26, 2014
Great product Makes it easy to work in comfort. No back problems January 23, 2014
Awesome I've wanted one of these chairs for a long time. Finally bought one and I am so happy with it. If I have to spend 8+ hours a day in a chair, this is the one I am happy to spend it in. December 13, 2013
Good Chair - Great design I purchased this chair for an employee. He seems to really like it, it also looks amazing, and seems to be very high quality. So have nothing bad to say about this chair. As someone that also owns a Embody chair I would say this.... After adding all the options we did; there was not much difference in the price compared the basic Embody chair. If your going to add all the options to this chair I think you will get more for your money if you just purchase the Embody chair which is amazing. If your not looking for all those adjustments, and added options then the basic SAYL is a great chair for the money! November 11, 2013
Why did I wait until now? This is an extremely comfortable chair. So comfortable that I need to remind myself that, in order to keep refreshing my thoughts, I must briefly leave my desk a couple of times an hour. I am very pleased with the adjustment controls. Having sat so long in a vastly inferior desk chair, my back had conformed to its poor design. With the SAYL, there were incremental improvements in my posture over the first week. Thanks to the chair's adjustability, I have found the sweet spot for me. At the end of this adjustment process, I am now sitting in a position that will contribute to the better alignment of my body as well as to its comfort. The numerous options for adjustment have basically resulted in my enjoying a bespoke ergonomic desk chair. This is bliss. October 28, 2013
I love this chair! Great looks and fits in a home environment. All the adjustments I need. No more aches and pains when working at my desk. October 23, 2013
