Designer: Alexander Girard
In 1965, a dozen years into his role as Herman Miller's Textile Director, Alexander Girard created Toostripe. Composed of 92 percent wool and 8 percent nylon, the Toostripe Pillow measures 17 x 17 inches (43 x 43 cm) and contains a 100 percent duck down fill insert, which can be removed by opening the case's concealed zipper.
Balancing historical appreciation with an innovative, interdisciplinary approach to design, Maharam has distinguished itself as a leading provider of textiles for commercial and residential interiors, developing new textiles with an exciting cross-section of contemporary talent as well as reissuing classic designs from design luminaries such as Alexander Girard. Introduced as a Maharam re-edition in 2002, Alexander Girard's classic Toostripe textile is just one of 12 designs offered from the Maharam pillow collection, a series of covetable accessories fit for every style and any space.
