Designed by Konstantin Grcic for Mattiazzi
With its generous dimensions and straightforward construction, the Medici Chair is a contemporary interpretation of the classic Adirondack chair. Crafted for strength and semi-reclined for open-air relaxation, designer Konstantin Grcic’s design is generous and sculptural. It’s ideal for outdoor use as a solitary piece of furniture or gathered together in small groups.
Born from the marriage of technology and craftsmanship, the low-sitting Medici chair is both a comfortable lounge chair and sculptural delight—an elegant choice for poolside lounging or patio gatherings.
"I was looking for a distinct grammar for my design, a language that would express the characteristics of wood."

The Medici Chair was named for one of Italy’s most famous families, Famiglia de' Medici, whose power and influence over the city of Florence brought about the Italian Renaissance. No surprise, then, that the Medici Chair is as much a work of art as it is a lounge chair.
Grcic’s Medici Chair was named “Furniture Design of the Year” by Icon magazine.
