Distil Desk

Designer: Todd Bracher
Equally appropriate in a small office or work room, the Distil Desk takes work seriously without taking over. Designer Todd Bracher ensures this equilibrium by refining the idea of a desk to its essence. With solid wood legs, eased edges, a molded plywood top, and refreshingly honest answers to handling wires and storage, this desk is approachable, physically and aesthetically.

What Is Needed—Nothing Less, Nothing More

With the Distil Desk, designer Todd Bracher has distilled the desk down to its most elemental form, consisting only of what is essential to its purpose—a horizontal surface, simple storage, and honest wire management.

“I subscribe to ‘irreducible complexity’—how much
can I take out until all that’s left is the essence?”

    Making the Complicated, Simple

Distil Desk has simplified storage, cleverly designed to keep devices and chargers close at hand but out of sight. The vertical box can be mounted on the desk’s right or left side and is intended for effortless paperwork and file storage. The horizontal storage box can also be mounted on either side of the desk and boasts a removable internal drawer that can double as a desktop “in box.” Optimize it to store external hard drives or mobile electronics.

Distil also has a simple solution to wires and cords, channeling them the length of the desk through cut-outs in the cross stretchers. Assembly, too, is simple, requiring just one tool and a few minutes.
